High School Orchestra

Ramiro Miranda joined the faculty of Pittsburg State University in 2023, where he teaches upper strings and conducting and serves as Music Director of the Southeast Kansas Symphony Orchestra. Previously, he held a similar appointment at Emporia State University from 2015 to 2023. A dedicated educator and advocate for string education, Miranda founded the ESU String Camp and Stringfully, outreach initiatives serving K-12 students throughout the Emporia area. He is regularly invited to conduct honor orchestras and teach summer music programs across the region. His guest conducting engagements have included middle and high school district, regional, and honor orchestras throughout Kansas, Missouri, and Illinois, where he works with young musicians and string educators in preparing performances of both standard orchestral repertoire and contemporary works.

As a conductor, Miranda's engagements have included collegiate orchestras and educational ensembles throughout the midwest. As a violinist, he has presented solo and chamber music recitals in the United States, Latin America, Europe, and China. He has shared the stage with internationally acclaimed Paraguayan guitarist Berta Rojas and is a member, composer, and arranger of the Jopara Ensemble, dedicated to the performance and promotion of Paraguayan music and culture.

A proud alumnus of Pittsburg State University, Miranda earned a Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance before completing master's degrees in violin performance and orchestral conducting at Illinois State University and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in orchestral conducting from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
