Membership Requirement
For a student to participate in KMEA honor groups the sponsoring teacher must be an active member of the Kansas Music Educators Association.

Middle School Band Clinician

Michael Oglesby
Michael Oglesby serves as adjunct faculty at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri where he is the Assistant Director of the Lion Pride Marching Band and Concert Band. He also supervises student teachers. He is an active adjudicator and clinician in both Marching Band and Concert Band. He also is a member of the Four State Symphonic Winds that performed at the 2019 MMEA Workshop and Clinic.

Prior to MSSU, Mr. Oglesby taught for 13 years in public schools, of which 11 were at Webb City R-7 Schools where he directed the 8th grade Wind Ensemble and Concert Bands, 7th grade Brass and Woodwind classes, two Jazz Bands at the Jr. High level, assisted with the High School band and marching band, and coordinated the beginning brass studies at the Middle School. During the Marching season, Mr. Oglesby ran the High School Brass line and was a field tech during marching rehearsals. He also directed brass choirs at both the high school and junior high school. Prior to this, Mr. Oglesby taught two years in the Aurora School District.

Under his direction, the 8th Grade Webb City Junior High Wind Ensemble was selected to perform at the MMEA (Missouri Music Educators Association) Educators Workshop and Clinic in 2010 and 2011. The Webb City High School Cardinal Pride Marching Band was selected twice to participate in the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California during his tenure. In 2012, he was selected as the Cardinal Teacher of the Year at Webb City Junior High. Webb City High School Brass choirs received numerous "I" ratings at State Large Ensemble.

Mr. Oglesby received his Bachelor of Music Education (1999) and his Master of Music Degree (2004) with an emphasis in Wind Conducting from Pittsburg State University. Professional memberships include: Pi Kappa Lamba, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Phi Beta Mu, and other State organizations.
